(Sound on this page is of Ex LNER B1 No.61264 leaving Perth)

Below are two pictures taken by Mr P Summers of New Jersey. Both are from railways I had not been aware of before. Just shows how much there is to see in the USA.
First is a scene on the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad - see newhoperailroad.com/history.cfm

The engine is apparently the only one in running order and is a Baldwin consolidation built in 1925

#40 Consolidation

Second picture shows a 1942 at the Whippany Railway Museum in New Jersey -http://www.whippanyrailwaymuseum.net/eq_4039.html this showss an ALCO ex military 0-6-0 Switcher similar to the Accucraft model. Thes are a long way from the typical Britsh 0-6-0. They look much bigger and somehow seem to want to be 2-6-2s.

The first is a Green BNSF SD40-2 taken at Pigs eye Yard in Minneapolis in August 2007. The other is an Amtrak Genesis P42  locomotive #200  taken at La Grange Road station on the outskirts of Chicago Aug 2007 at 6.14 in the evening, train #383 The Illinois Zephyr. Evocative names. The SD40 is modelled by USA Trains and the Genesis by LGB.

Alaskan Railway - en route to Fairbanks. July 2002 (thanks to Mr.T.W.Sayers) Alaska Railways motive power
Here is a picture of a railroad yard snowblower I took in Duluth, Minn. last year. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Yard It has a jet engine on it to remove snow from switch points with heat & wind speed. I have seen these in action and they work great even to remove ice as they leave the ties steaming.  They do consume alot of fuel. (thanks to Duke Snyder) Snow blower BNSF
Aristo-craft plan to bring the Dash 9 diesel locomotive out towards the end of 2003

Here are two pictures of Dash units, I'm not sure if they are -8 or -9 but it gives you and idea anyway... Both were taken in Superior Wisc in 2002

Santa Fe Dash 9s

A 6 unit power coming into Itasca Yard in Superior, Wi. in 2002, left to right are 2 Wisconsin Central (now part of Canadian National) 2 Canadian National Zebra Stripes, a red & blue Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific (now part of Canadian National) and another Canadian National.   This is rare and most likely moving motive power around as the train was not long or heavy enough to require 6 units.  Most use only 2 or 3 like the coal and iron ore.

More Dash-9s. This time at Flagstaff Arizona in August 2003.

And, A special request to any train photographers in the USA, Europe or in fact anywhere in the world - can you help me improve my web site? I am looking for any pictures you have taken yourself - .jpg images ( .jpg only please) which would be duly acknowledged on my international photo page - Thank you in advance - Sandy.
