G Scale in Scotland

The G scale Society Scottish Area Group

See the Scottish Area web site for more details

Welcome

I would like to introduce you to the aforementioned Group which consists of a gathering of people from throughout Scotland who have a G Scale layout, indoors or out, or who would like one, or who only like to be associated with this scale.

We have come together through the mutual interest in the scale and a general interest in railways. There is no affiliation to European or American outline, simply that we run what we want, when we want and wherever we want. Some of us are members of the G Scale Society, which is a national organisation promoting G Scale, but such membership is not a pre requisite of being involved with this Group.

There is only one rule that the Group have made and that is, that there are no rules!

We meet twice a year in a local Church hall on the south side of Glasgow, simply because we have not branched out any further as yet, but have an open mind on any location. We also have Open Days for enthusiasts, and like minded individuals at each others gardens, which are normally notified through our quarterly Newsletter . There is also one garden which is open to the public once a year, as a fundraiser for charity.

How to become a member of this Group is relatively straight forward. Simply make contact with us through e mail or letter and take it from there.

As G Scale modellers we are aware of security risks to our property and models, and as such, recognise that some people may be reluctant to take that first step. Please be assured that contact with us is dealt with to the best of our ability, insofar as security is concerned, and we will respect any individuals wishes to maintain any privacy they so desire. We all started off with the same fears and hesitation, so we are aware of how some people may feel.

The costs associated with this Group are minimal, being an annual membership fee of £6 payable on becoming a member, and renewable from 01st April each year.

The Newsletter, published quarterly, is sent to paid up members of the Group, as they become available. Members are encouraged to participate in the content of the Newsletter by submitting information on their own progress, or lack of, as the case may be.

It is recommended that no payment should be made until you have first made contact with us.

We look forward to meeting you.
