Christmas displays have given me experience of running G scale trains for long periods.

As well as Christmas displays I have supplied G scale trains for commercial use in a coffee bar, a pub, a rare breeds centre, the background of a Coronation Street pantomime, a play in Cork, an event in London, a Garden Centre in the Scottish Borders, a botanic garden in St Andrews (not there all the time but see the Gardens website) to nname a few.

Train in the restaurant area of Milesone Garden Centre in Newtown St Boswells in the Scottish borders - beside the A68 - see the Milestone website. The PIKO locomotive and four trucks run on an end to end shuttle over a distance of arouud 50-60feet at a height of about 10 feet on a purpose buillt acrylic shelf.

This is a little bit different. An event company used this PIKO locomotive and a selection of open trucks to move chocolates around. Everything was painted gold. Note the front light has not been fitted and the driver has maybe eaten too much chocolate (picture, thanks to E.Park)

A short end to end setup which I supplied for a London salad bar. Opened several years ago in Copthall Road near Moorgate underground station this uses an LGB locomotive and Bachmann hopper trucks, both re-liveried. The track is PIKO and the controls are Gaugemaster using a 10LGB controller and SS1-LGB shuttle. Certainly eye catching. You can find out more about the tossed chain on the tossed website.

Patrons in Platform 3 in Linlithgow enjoy a quiet chat and a pint as the beer train arrives with fresh beer supplies

Or you might want to really deliver the food in a restaurant or like you see here in a Suchi bar.

The locomotive is the LGB Mallet
